The reason why it's important to swim in between the flags is because its safest place to swim .also if you swim outside the flags the lifegard cant help you that much.

Sofball

This week we have started some Softball coaching. We have been learning to throw and catch. There is always (of course) time for a quick DAB!

Yesterday afternoon me and Rahmana went to room 7 to do a crime scene. First we had to figure out that the crime scene it was.a Broken Computer screen. Next we had to we had to boil some purple

cabbage but the cabbage didn't boil so we had to put it on a big hot plate. After that we had to scoop up some sugar off the ground and put it in a plastic cup .Then we put baking soda, salt and sugar into three separate cups then we poured the vinegar into the cups we to observe. It was the sugar that was on the ground. After that  we had to sweep up some milk and pore it in to a plastic cup and also put some vinegar in the plastic cup with the milk, it curdled and looked like puke. After that we had to find out what the fifth crime was. We had to find out what the crumbs were so Peyton looked at it closely and she found out that it was wheatbix. Then we had to see who's footprint it was so we had to go around the school, and ask the adults, we even went to Sue!  She took her shoes and socks off and stood in the foot print, it wasn't her. Then we went to Sharon in Room 3 and she stood in the foot print and it was her.

 Xavier bought in his new emoji glasses. Sarah could not resist trying them on! We had to pose for a photo and of course a dab!

Science Experiments

This week in Room 12 we have started our Science topic 'Fizz Mix and Stir'. We did the skittles and M&M experiments to compare which one made the best colours!

Fireworks

In room 12 we were comparing Guy Faulks and the 4th of July. Here is our padlet showing what is the difference and what is the same. We also used a youtube clip to learn how to draw fireworks.

Hour of Code

While the Year 5 and 6 classes are at swimming we are making the most of the availability of the devices to learn how to code. This is helping us with our reading and maths because we are learning our left and right turns and reading the instructions on the screen.

Youtube art

We are using some youtube videos to teach us how to draw pictures that relate to journal stories that we are reading.  This week our story was about a spider who wanted spots like a ladybug.

Cantamaths

We have been working together to solve problems using a cantamaths style programme.

#getnzwriting

This term we have been involved in #getnzwriting . The children had fun learning about metaphors and similes. We are swapping our postcards with Holy Family School in Porirua. We wrote metaphors to describe ourselves on our cards.

Peteseta's Discovery

When I got here  I saw jam and peanut butter and butter and plates and it looked like a cafe. I was one of the  bakers. Abhi and Junior was the bakers too so was Sarah. We were  baking four breads each in the toaster and we had some milk. Some of the class was playing with toys. It made me happy. I was siting next to  John and Hainite.

Learning to Learn

Room 7 & 8 have a Learning to Learn programme that runs Monday to Thursday. We are focusing on talking to each other and using our manners. Come back soon to read some of the children's reflective writing from our Thursday Breakfast Cafe! Here are some photos of the session...

The Earth is a pretty place but it's full of  bad things and still has a  good galaxy color and the stars are  as  bright like  fire works  I wonder what  is in space but I  still wouldn't go to space it would be scary   in space.

Room 7 and 8 are working on following instructions and teamwork. This calls for some marching drills. This is level one achieved! Well done team, only the second time practicing!
